為讓新式身分證能擁有多元創新的設計思考，內政部從 2 月 26 日起舉辦「身分證明文件再設計徵選活動」，共收到 1109 件民眾投稿，分為初審及決審兩階段，並於 11 日公布由設計師魯少綸的作品「形｜SHAPE」獲「設計獎」，這件作品將成為未來新式身分證設計參考。
內政部表示，身分證再設計發布以來受廣大迴響，徵件階段超過千件作品投稿，其中有許多作品在票選開始前，即引發網友熱烈討論，話題跨足設計、性別、配偶及國家意識等面向。線上票選階段高達十萬人次參與投票，總票數超過三十萬票，許多民眾發表對身分證的想像與願景，並踴躍支持理想中的身分證。
網站資料指出，魯少綸以台灣玉山山脈高線圖作為主要卡面圖紋設計，透過設計將版面梳理整潔，且欄位具有足夠延展性，易配合姓名長度調整，在雙語的排版上也明瞭易讀，使作品具有高度實行可行性。
創意獎則由設計師蘇意茹的「族群?山海?國際」奪得，評審團認為，該作品針對視障族群做的缺角設計非常特別，不同於大部分作品僅以點字思考，這種缺角設計雖非高難度手法，實際製作也不無可能，但在目前社會上的確非常罕見，「若未來能付諸實踐，代表台灣社會所追求的進步價值，將是別具意義的創舉」。
曾因國族認同問題受關注的作品「嶼民在地」，以將近 10 萬票的網路票選成績獲得人氣獎。
內政部表示，「設計獎」除獎金新台幣 12 萬元外，該作品將成為新款身分證設計的重要依據，作者也能與內政部直接溝通。
